Devi Tea :: • Herbal Tisanes
Herbal Tisanes are herbs and blends of herbs and are often referred to as herbal teas, though there is not one bit of true tea in them. Salutary and flavorful blends are concocted to be served hot or cold. Some of the more common herbs and ingredients found in tisanes are chamomile, mint, hibiscus, rosehip, lemon grass, ginger, freeze dried fruit, berries and fruit peels.
Rooibos and Honeybush are showing up more and more in these herbal elixirs as well. They are fairly new to the U.S. market, originating in South Africa, where they have been consumed for centuries as folk remedies and traditional cure-alls. Tisanes do not contain caffeine and may have a soporific effect especially if consumed in the evening. Milk can be added, although some herbal ingredients can be acidic and will curdle the milk. Health benefits.
