About Makaibari Estate 2nd Flush Darjeeling -Organically Grown and Fair Trade Certified Darjeeling Black Tea
The Second flush of the Darjeeling region is renown for its' piquant character, medium-bodied mouth-feel and dry finish. After the slow growing first flush, the temperatures begin to rise and the rains are just yet to come, the tea plants go into a slightly faster growing cycle thus producing excellent tasting tea. The Makaibari Estate has been cultivating tea since 1859, but just since 1991 have they been producing organically grown and fair trade certified teas.
A Few Words On Taste
The infusion is light amber and has an aroma of Muscat grapes and chalk. The liquor is bright, with a subtle muscatel flavor, medium-bodied mouth-feel with a hint of dryness in the finish. Try it alone first, then add your preferred sweetener and milk if desired.
