About Green Pu-Erh - Tuo Cha, Organically Grown Pu-Erh Tea

Pu-Erh tea has been around for centuries, perhaps millennia. Fables referring to the drink of Pu-Erh date back to 1000 B. C. It has been used traditionally as a digestive aid and is believed to help lower cholesterol. All Pu-Erh teas come from the Yunnan Province of China and are made from a large leaf variety of the Camellia sinensis plant. Pu-Erh tea can be made with white, green or black tea. The selected tea type is gently composted and can be aged from one to well over fifty years. It is often pressed into cakes of different shapes and sizes. Our Green Pu-Erh comes from the first organic and fair trade certified pu erh tea producer in Yunnan Province and is pressed into a small Tuo Cha (bird's nest). The vintage is 2010.

A Few Words On Taste
Pu-Erhs are noted for their full body and rich liquor. Our Green Pu-Erh brews a silky golden liquor. The aroma and flavor are a complex blend of sweet tabacco, fresh alfalfa hay, floral red amaranth flower and a delicate smokey touch all culminating to a pleasantly piquant yet sweet and smooth finish. This tea is usually enjoyed without the addition of milk or sugar, however, if you need to satisfy a sweet tooth, a touch of a natural sweetener (best with honey) makes it a treat.

Brewing Instructions
  1. Fill your kettle with freshly drawn water from the purest available source.
  2. Heat the water to boiling.
  3. Use one unwrapped tuo cha (approximate weight - 3.5 grams) per 10 ounces of water.
  4. Place the tea in your preferred brewing vessel: Gaiwan, teapot, filter basket, large tea ball, etc.
  5. Pour the heated water over the tea, thoroughly wetting all leaves and steep for 2-3 minutes, then serve.
  6. Not: This tea will have a better flavor if you quickly rinse the leaves before steeping. To do this, simply cover the leaves with boiling water in your brewing vessel, let sit for 10-15 seconds then pour off the water. Then steep as directed.
  7. Steep the tea 2 or more times. The 2nd and 3rd infusions are often the best.

Ingredients: Organically grown, fair-trade certified Green Pu-Erh tea from Yunnan, China. 2010 Vintage. Contains caffeine
