About Earl Grey - Flavored Black Tea
Essence from a Mediterranean pear shaped citrus fruit, bergamot, is responsible for the distinctive flavor of Earl Grey. Named for Charles Grey, who acted as Prime Minister under William IV (ruled 1830-1837), the story goes, he acquired this tea while serving as a diplomat to China. But this is a mystery because nowhere in Chinese tea history have they ever flavored a tea with Bergamot. This mattered little to the people of England for the tea grew to be quite popular and still is today.
A Few Words On Taste Perfectly scented, smooth, citric, and delicately floral. The liquor is medium-bodied with a well-rounded bergamot flavor. Enjoy it solo or with the addition of milk and or sugar.
