About Rooibos - Organically Grown Herbal Tisane
Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) is a plant indigenous to the Cedarburg mountain region, 200 km. north of Cape Town in South Africa. Our Rooibos is both cultivated in this region and is organically grown. The leaves and stems of this small bushy plant are harvested, crushed, oxidized, and then dried to make this caffeine-free herbal drink (tisane). South Africans have been using this plant to make delicious and healthful beverages for centuries.
A Few Words On Taste Rooibos makes a mellow and flavorful beverage with subtle notes of citrus. It is similar to tea, in that you can drink it hot or cold, and with milk or sugar, yet it has less tannins than tea and zero caffeine. Also if rooibos is steeped for longer than 5 minutes it doesn’t turn bitter, rather it becomes more flavorful.
Brewing Instructions
- Fill your kettle with freshly drawn water from the purest available source.
- Heat the water to boiling.
- Measure approximately 1 rounded tsp. of the rooibos per 6-8 ounces of water.
- Place the tisane in your preferred brewing vessel: teapot, filter basket, large tea ball, etc.
- Pour the heated water over the tisane and steep for 5-7 minutes, (if a longer time is allowed the tisane will not become bitter) then serve.
Ingredients: Organically grown rooibos. Caffeine free.
