The larger the leaf, the more amenable the tea is to multiple steeps. For many Oolong teas the best flavors aren’t apparent until the second or third steep. If you plan on using the tea for multiple steeps, the water to tea ratio decreases from that listed on our package to approximately one gram of tea per ounce of water, and the steeping time is shortened to about one minute.
Broken leaf teas are usually better with just one steep. Most of the flavor in the tea is released quickly because the exposed surface area of the leaf is greater. Subsequent steeps would taste weak.
