Water quality is equally as important as the tea itself in this equation. Most of the content in a brewed cup of tea is water. If unpleasant tasting, low quality water is used, the tea will taste unpleasant as well. Filtered or bottled water are the best sources. Steam distilled water should not be used because it is devoid of minerals and mineral content actually enhances the flavor of the tea. Tap water may be used, however it has most likely been treated with chemicals and this can ruin the flavor of the tea, especially the more delicate varieties. If bottled water or a filter is not available, a Britta Filter pitcher may be purchased at local grocery stores. This will sufficiently purify the water to allow the true flavor of the tea to come through.
